PETA: More Animal Rights Lunacy
HEADLINE READS: PETA Wants Eight Belles Jockey Suspended After Filly’s Death
Animal Rights
People who harm and torture animals for the shear bizarre pleasure it gives them, are unwell mentallyand spiritually [1]. They aren’t unwell, however, simply because a group of psychiatrists says so, or because PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) deems such people the scum of the earth. The Bible, in fact, is clear: animals, big and small, were created by God. The whole creation belongs to Him. God says He takes care of the birds of the air and the beasts of the fields. If God takes care of them, then that must mean He thinks they are important to His creation. Animals must have a purpose on this earth otherwise God wouldn’t have created them. Therefore, the unreasonable, cruel and unusual treatment of animals is simply ungodly.
But the question some people have been debating for years is whether or not animals have—or should have—rights. To answer this question we need to start at the very beginning, in Genesis, the first book of the Bible. There is something God told Adam and Eve, as recorded in the first chapter, that is worth noting here:
Then God said,…let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. Genesis 1: 26
Two verses later, God blesses Adam and Eve, and again repeats his command for them to have dominion over “every living thing that moves on the earth” (Gen. 1:28). The Hebrew word translated dominion means, “to tread down, rule, and reign.”[2]
In the ninth chapter of Genesis, after the flood, God blesses Noah and his sons and tells them that all animals on the earth shall fear them. God, essentially, reiterates the very thing He told Adam and Eve. God goes on to explain His specific purpose for giving Noah and his family animals:
. . . They are given into your hand. Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given all things, even as the green herbs. Genesis 9:2, 3
One of God’s main purposes for creating animal life was to provide nourishment for the human beings He had created in His own image. Human beings are to rule and reign over animal life, not the other way around. It is not ungodly for someone to raise chickens, cows, or goats, for example, for the purpose of feeding people. God ordained it to be so. Yet, if a Christian chooses to adhere to a vegetarian lifestyle, that too, is ok. According to God, He gave plant life to be used as food, as well. Whether someone eats meat or doesn’t eat meat, should not cause division or contention among Christians.[3]
Here is what is an abomination to God: human beings placing the value of animal life above human life. Animals do not have rights in the same way that humans have rights, because the Creator never gave animals equal footing with mankind. God created them for food, He says we should care for animals, and He even says animals should be given rest.[4]
However, God’s Word is clear: in no way, shape, or form should animal life be given preference over, or be considered no different than, human beings. The freedom with which people in our society refer to their pets as their “children” is something that is becoming increasingly popular and rarely receives a critical word. Whether it be in the privacy of their own homes, or in front of cameras and microphones in the media, people have become extremely comfortable—and even proud—to say they consider their house-trained animals part of their family, and no different from a child. [5]
Some people won’t even consider having a child without first keeping a house pet—aving a pet, they argue, is a good and necessary training ground for enduring the rigors of caring for a baby. Such non-biblical, heretical thinking is only one example of human beings adding to the Word of God, and attempting to reorder God’s flawless creation. Such thinking is just as shameful as someone who believes there is no difference between a newborn baby and a lab rat. [6]
Animals have a God-given purpose on this earth. Let’s honor God’s order, and keep animal life in its designated place.

One of People’s 100 Most Beautiful People?
Cosmetic surgery has experienced quite a surge in popularity over the past decade. In 2005, over 10 million people received cosmetic plastic surgical procedures in the United States, and over 90% of the patients were women. (1) It isn’t uncommon these days for a young woman graduating high school to be gifted with a nose job from mom and dad, as opposed to more traditional presents such as money or a car.
We live in a society which places enormous value on physical appearance. While men aren’t immune to becoming obsessed with this culture of beauty, women seem to be targeted by the beauty business more than men, and therefore, females are more negatively affected by it. If you are a man reading this, do not skip ahead to the next chapter. You will likely have the opportunity to touch a young woman’s life someday, as a father, a pastor, husband or a brother. Men need to know how to minister the love of Jesus to women who are essentially being told that God hasn’t made them beautiful, after all.
God has made us beautiful. Regardless of what you may see in the mirror, or what people may have said, God says He made you beautiful! God’s standard of beauty is not the standard of beauty proclaimed by Hollywood. In fact, these standards are completely opposed:
For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Sam. 16:7
God has, and always will be, far more concerned with the condition of man’s heart than the number of wrinkles on one’s face. God expressly warns against living a vain life numerous times in His word, including the following verse found in Proverbs:
Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30
God makes it very clear: don’t be taken by someone’s “beauty”—whether it be your own or someone else’s. Unless a woman fears [reverence] the Lord, all of her beauty means nothing. This sounds nothing like what we observe in society today. People are very quick to remark on how beautiful a person is, without any regard for the persons right standing with God. Our minds need to be renewed for the sake of ourselves and future generations in Christ, to what is truly most beautiful.
Celebrities are often considered the pinnacle of all things beautiful. Millions of magazines catering to fashion and style are sold each year, and billions of dollars are generated in advertising and consumer dollars. In these magazines, women, men and even children are primped, positioned and airbrushed to create within the reader covetous desires to possess more things, and look like supermodels. We are so obsessed with beauty as a society, that we joyfully subject babies and children to be judged in beauty contests and other money-making schemes. Not only are fashion magazines hugely profitable, but gossip periodicals and tabloids are also mainstays on magazine racks in supermarkets and bookstores, everywhere. The lives of famous people are sensationally written about, and paparazzi almost kill to capture these entertainers going about their daily lives. And people—Christian and unbelievers, alike—purchase these magazines faithfully. All of this, despite the fact that the Word of God expressly declares the evils of gossip:
He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets; Therefore do not associate with one who flatters with his lips. Prov. 20:19
In thee are men that carry tales to shed blood. Ezekiel 22:9
In the book of Romans, Paul (under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit), likens gossipers and coveters to murderers and the sexually immoral (Romans 1 and 2). As seen in the above verse take from Ezekiel, gossip murders a person’s character, and can ultimately take someone’s very life. Is it no wonder why so many wealthy and famous people are addicted to drugs, killing themselves, or drowning in depression? Gossip destroys lives. When we support or engage in gossip, we are, essentially, accomplices to murder.
The truth of the matter is, every single person ever born was fashioned by God Himself, and God looked at His creation and said it was “good.” Therefore, as God’s creation, we are all beautiful. God’s plan for every human ever made was for them to increase in beauty, not as they had more plastic surgery, or won more Emmy Awards. God’s plan is for us to increase in beauty as we grow closer to Him. The only person truly worthy of being celebrated is Christ, for gifts and talents are given without repentance (Romans 11:29). A person is truly beautiful when they look like Christ and fulfill His call:
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7
God wants a people who are consumed by His love and His word. He wants a people who live their lives completely dependent upon His sustaining grace and the Holy Spirit’s leading. If we, men and women, give most of our time to adorning ourselves with the beauty of holiness, this world will become a more beautiful place.
Don’t abandon taking proper care of yourself. Carry yourself in a way that glorifies your beautiful Creator. Still, always remember that anything you have has been given to you by God. Strive for a beauty that will last into eternity.

Just A Few Questions:
[For background information click here]
1) Why is it that people act “gangsta”, but then become outraged when they die gangsta-style? (i.e. a gangsta thinks he’s unstoppable–they do things like try to run-over cops with their vehicles, while under the influence of strong drink; they also enjoy the company of other gangstas.)
2) Will there ever be a time when [black] people consistently take to the streets–weeping and protesting–over the ridiculously high rate of abortions, crime, jailed men, and absent fathers evident in the black community?
3) Has anyone bothered to become outraged over the fact that a soon-to-be married man was spending his wedding day lusting after naked women in a club, while his bride-to-be, and mother of his two children, awaited his return from a night of “fun and good times?”
4) Finally (regarding the video below): Did he say, “abortion of justice?”
